Village Čajkov is a separate local authority and the administrative unit of the Slovak Republic, which carries its own self-government ( zákon SNR č. 369/1990 Zb. o obecnom zriadení).
The original competencies include:
public spaces, municipal waste, local roads, greenery, cleanliness, protection of nature and the environment, water, sewerage, spatial planning, local development, housing, pre-school and school facilities, social amenities, culture, certification documents, some offenses, local police ; selection of local taxes and fees, participation in regional plans.
